Afghanistan: Bombing injures at least 11 in Jalalabad city Jan. 24

Officials have reported that 11 people have been injured when a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated outside of the Save the Children compound in police district three (PD3) Jalalabad city (Nangarhar province) at around 09:10 (local time) on Wednesday, January 24. Unconfirmed local reporting suggests that clashes are ongoing at the scene, and a group of armed men are believed to have entered the Save the Children office; avoid the area. At least two other back-to-back explosions have been reported in Jalalabad, in the area of Marastoon square, Chaknoory High School and Telecommunication Square (Charahi Mukhabirat). Details are still emerging.
