High flu activity has been reported in 48 states and several major cities, including New York City and Washington, DC. Flu season in the United States typically begins in October or November, and can run through as late as May.

Influenza is a contagious virus that can spread from human to human. Symptoms include high fever, aching muscles, headache, and respiratory issues.
