London City Airport (LCY) remains closed on Monday, February 12 after an unexploded World War II bomb was found in the River Thames at the George V dock (E16). The bomb was reportedly found early on Sunday morning during scheduled work at the airport; bomb disposal crews were on the scene and are still attempting to safely remove the bomb as of Monday morning. The London Metropolitan Police Force implemented a 214-meter (700-foot) exclusion zone around the bomb from 22:00 on Sunday and cordoned off adjacent roads; cordons remain in place.  It is unclear when the affected roads will reopen. Associated air transportation disruptions (including numerous flight delays and cancelations) are expected at LCY, as well as road traffic disruptions in Newham borough and nearby areas throughout the day.

Individuals in London are advised to monitor developments to the situation and updates by MET Police. Individuals due to fly from LCY on Monday are advised to contact their airline for more information, and avoid traveling to the airport until further notice. Anticipate significant disruption to road travel in the Newham area.
