Morocco: Doctors threaten to hold protests and strikes
Doctors threaten to hold nationwide protests and strikes in the near future
Event
Public sector doctors have threatened to launch a protest movement and the near future. A first sit-in was held in front of the Ministry of Health in Rabat on Saturday, February 10. The Democratic Health Organization, behind Saturday’s sit-in, said it would consult with other unions and plan nationwide strikes and associated protests (e.g. sit-ins) if their demands are not met.
Context
These medical unions are demanding salary and bonus increases, as well as additional medical staff in order to better accommodate patients.
Advice
Individuals in Morocco are advised to avoid any form of protest, keep abreast of the situation, confirm medical appointments, and anticipate increased waiting times at hospitals if the strike is confirmed.
