Ecuador: Robberies in Portoviejo by assailants posing as police

It was reported over the weekend of March 24-25 that at least three incidents had taken place in Portoviejo (Manabí province) in recent days whereby thieves posed as police officers to gain entry into homes and rob them. In two of the cases, the perpetrators wore police uniforms. Authorities have not yet ascertained the identity of the suspects. Further such incidents are possible in and around Portoviejo in the coming days.
