Italy: National airport staff strikes on April 13

A national strike by airport staff is set to take place in Italy on Friday, April 13. Additional strikes by staff at Milan-Malpensa (MXP), Milan-Linate (LIN), Pisa (PSA), and Florence (FLR) international airports have also been announced. Flight delays and cancelations along with increased waiting times at airports (check-in counters, security checkpoints, baggage drop-off/claim, etc.) are possible. 

Context

Transportation-related strikes are common in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all strikes.

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and arrive earlier than normal in anticipation of increased waiting times.
