India: Curfew remains in place in Shillong June 4 /update 1

Police continue to impose a curfew in Shillong (Meghalaya state) as of June 4

A curfew imposed by police in parts of the city of Shillong (Meghalaya state) remain in effect as of Monday, June 4. Areas affected by the curfew include the districts of Cantolment, Jaiaw, Lama Villa, Lumdiengjri, Mawkhar, Mawlong Hat, Mawprem, Mission, Qualapatty, Raitsamthiah, Sunny Hills, Umsohsun, Wahingdoh, and Wahthapbru. The curfew was implemented following clashes on Thursday, May 31, and Friday, June 1, which wounded at least ten people.

Context

A bus driver was apparently sent to the hospital after being beaten by a mob for almost hitting a woman with his bus. Later in the day, his colleagues came to take revenge, leading to the clashes.
