Four killed and five injured in armed attack in Jalalabad on June 8; no group immediately claims responsibility

An armed attack was carried out on Friday, June 8, in Jalalabad (Nangarhar province). Four individuals, including the assailant, were killed and five others were wounded. The assailant, who was targeting the home of a lawmaker, was killed prior to reaching his target. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Context

Islamic State-Khorasan Province (IS-KP) is active in Nangarhar province and has recently carried out deadly attacks in the area. Notably, on May 13, suspected IS-KP militants killed at least 15 people and wounded some 42 others in a coordinated attack on the Jalalabad Customs Finance Department building.
