Japan: Typhoon Prapiroon to affect the south July 2-3 /update 3
Typhoon Prapiroon to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Okinawa and southern Kyushu July 2-3; risk of mudslides and flooding

Typhoon Prapiroon - the 2018 season's seventh storm - is forecast to bring wind gusts of up to 180 km/h (110 mph) to southern Japan through Tuesday, July 3. The typhoon is currently, as of Monday night (local time), moving northward towards Kyushu Island at 20 km/h (13 mph). Authorities expect Prapiroon to move in a northeasterly direction over the Sea of Japan after nearing Kyushu. Southern Kyushu is forecast to receive up to 30 cm (12 in) of rainfall through July 3. Meanwhile, other parts of the country - including northern Kyushu, Shikoku, and Okinawa - will also experience heavy rains and strong winds.
Authorities have warned of the risk of mudslides, high winds, and flooding along rivers.
