Australia: Powder restrictions for carry-on luggage

Effective June 30, air passengers leaving Australia - or flying domestically from an international terminal - are subject to restrictions regarding the transportation of inorganic powders in their carry-on luggage. Passengers will be permitted to carry a total of 350 g (12 oz.) of such substances - e.g. salt, sand, talc, powdered deodorants, foot powders, detergent powders, cleaning products, etc. Larger quantities must be transported in checked luggage. Permitted powders include all organic materials (baby formula, powdered foods, coffee, protein powder, flour, spices, etc.) as well as medications, cremated human remains, and duty-free items.
