At least 30 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 50 Taliban insurgents were killed after several security checkpoints in northern Kunduz province were attacked early Thursday (local time), July 12, according to Afghan officials. An additional 15 ANA soldiers were reported injured. The Taliban insurgents withdrew following the arrival of additional troops and government forces have regained control of the area as of July 12.
