Kenya: Teacher strike starting September 1

The National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called for an indefinite strike to take place starting on Saturday, September 1. Teachers are denouncing recent policies implemented by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), as well as the government's decision to delay scheduled financing meant for primary and secondary schools. However, the union stated that they are willing to start negotiation with the TSC. As of July 31, it remains unclear if the strike goes ahead as planned as well as how long it will last and how many schools it will affect. Related protests are possible.
