An explosion was reported in the Borgo Panigale neighborhood of Bologna shortly before 15:00 (local time) on Monday, August 6, which left at least 2 people dead and 67 others injured. Local sources report that the explosion was caused by an accident involving a fuel tanker truck on A14 Autostrada Adriatica above Via Marco Emilio Lepido.

Traffic disruptions on the A14 are to be expected in the coming weeks as a portion of the A14 overpass collapsed due to the explosion. Traffic disruptions have also been reported on Via Marco Emilio Lepido and throughout the Borgo Panigale area. Though nearby Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) has not reported any flight delays, travelers should expect delays on access roads to the airport in the near-term.
