Maldives: Ring Road in capital Male reopens (Sept. 6)

On the evening of September 6, the Ring Road of capital Male City connecting the Sinamale Bridge reopened. The areas of the ring road of Boduthakurufaanu Magu were closed off since June 19 for renovations.

Context

Around 90% of the south Asian archipelagic country's surface area is water, with land rising to only several meters above sea level. As a result, the most common way of transportation between the islands is by boat or seaplane. Many of these services stop before sunset.

Advice

As a reminder for foreign nationals staying in the archipelago, an advance approval is required to visit most non-resort islands, other than the capital island Malé.
