Indonesia: 6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes off coasts of Java and Bali Oct. 11

Event

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coasts of eastern Java and Bali in the early morning hours (local time) of Thursday, October 11. The quake's epicenter was located some 40 km (25 mi) north-northeast of Sumberanyar (East Java province). No tsunami warning was issued and no casualties or material damages were immediately reported. Aftershocks are possible in the affected area in the coming hours and days.

Indonesia lies within the active seismic zone known as "the Pacific Ring of Fire."
