Taiwan: Flight operations at Kaohsiung International Airport normalizing Oct. 16

Event

China Airlines Flight 712 experienced a landing gear malfunction shortly after landing at Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) in Kaohsiung City (Taiwan) at 11:38 (local time) on Tuesday, October 16. The airport suspended operations for roughly six hours as authorities cleared the damaged aircraft and inspected the damaged runway; flight operations resumed at 17:00. Although there were no reports of injuries from the 98 passengers and crew aboard Flight 712, the incident affected a total of 66 flights and more than 7000 passengers. Residual disruptions (including delays, increased congestion, and cancelations) are possible on other flights over the coming hours as operations return to normal.
