Israeli troops clashed with Palestinian protesters on the Israeli-Gazan border on Friday, November 9, leaving one protester dead and 37 others wounded by Israeli fire. Similar to last Friday, the November 9 protests were calmer than those previously witnessed along the Israeli-Gazan border in months past as Hamas and Israel reportedly continue to seek a ceasefire. Despite the ceasefire efforts, continuing Palestinian protests and associated clashes with Israeli troops are to be expected over the coming weeks.

Context

Palestinian protesters have rallied at the Gaza border fence since March 30 in a Hamas-supported movement dubbed "The Great March of Return." Over 220 Palestinians and one Israeli soldier have been killed in border clashes since the protests began.
