The Ecuador Geophysical Institute (IG) of the National Polytechnic School reported on Tuesday, December 11, incandescent blocks descending to about 800 m (2625 ft) below the level of the Reventador volcano crater overnight December 10-11. The volcano, located about 90 km (55 mi) east-northeast of the capital Quito, reportedly maintains a high volcanic activity. No evacuation orders have been issued, however, visits to the volcano remain banned until further notice.
