Côte d'Ivoire: Protest in Abidjan January 14

The CVCI (Collectif des Victimes de la Côte d'Ivoire) civil society group called for a protest to take place in front of the National Commission of Human Rights (CNDHCI) building in Abidjan on Monday, January 14, to denounce the potential provisional release of former president Laurent Gbagbo. Context

The demonstration comes as the International Criminal Court (ICC) is expected to announce a verdict over the provisional release of Gbagbo on January 15. Gbagbo, in detention since November 2011, faces four counts of crimes against humanity, related to the violence following his defeat in the 2010 presidential election.
