France: Orange weather alerts for northern and central regions January 22

Weather officials issue orange alert for snow and ice for 24 departments in northern and central France January 22; transportation disruptions possible

Orange weather alerts (the second-highest level on a four-point scale), for snow and ice were issued on Tuesday, January 22, for 24 departments in northern and central France: Aisne, Ardennes, Aube, Cher, Eure-et-Loir, Indre, Indre-et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher, Loiret, Marne, Nièvre, Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais, Paris et petite couronne, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Somme, Yonne, Essonne et Val-d'Oise. Between 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 in) of snow is expected to fall through Tuesday. Associated transportation disruptions are expected, along with possible power outages. Residual disruptions are possible in the coming days.
