On Tuesday, February 5, local authorities ordered the evacuation of residents living in several villages located near the mount Karangetan volcano (North Sulawesi province; Sitaro district) following a new eruption, which resulted in hot lava and rock sliding downward, approaching nearby villages and roads.
Context
Mount Karangetan volcano is one of Indonesia's 129 active volcanoes. On December 21, 2019, authorities raised the alert status for the volcano to the second highest after the volcano erupted.
