Gunfire reported in Port-au-Prince February 6, after protesters block roads in the city; roadblocks also reported in Aquin (Sud department) and Lascahobas (Centre department)

Gunfire, protests, and roadblocks have been reported in Port-au-Prince on the morning (local time) of Wednesday, February 6. Protests were reported on Bourdon Road, near the Prime Minster's residence, amid a heightened security presence; the area is now clear. A roadblock was also reported on Avenue Toussaint Louverture near the United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) headquarters. Significant gunfire has also been witnessed in the downtown Bolosse and Martissan areas of Port-au-Prince as of 11:36.
In Aquin, roadblocks have been reported on Route Nationale 2. Another roadblock has been reported at Lascahobas (Centre department). Localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near protest sites. Clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out.
