Australia: Thousands without power following storm in Sydney Feb. 9

Around 2500 people remain without power in the Hills area of Sydney as of Saturday, February 9, following a severe storm. According to the local power company, Endeavour Energy, some 40,000 people were left without electricity in Sydney, Illawarra, and Hunter earlier on Saturday. The storm brought rains of up to 61 mm (2.4 in), leading to flash flooding in the Parramatta area of the city. Crews are currently working to restore power to affected households. Residual disruptions remain possible.
