Papua New Guinea: 6.4-magnitude earthquake strikes New Ireland Feb. 18

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck approximately 47 km (29 mi) northwest of Namatanai on New Ireland island in the early morning hours (local time) of Monday, February 18. The quake occurred at 00:35 at a depth of 368 km (228.6 mi), and only light shaking was felt. There are no initial reports of damage or casualties. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has not issued any tsunami warning. Aftershocks remain possible in the coming hours.
