Taiwan: Disruptions and evacuations in Taipei after earthquake April 18 /update 2

Transportation disruptions are being reported in  Taipei as of 17:00 (local time) on Thursday, April 18, after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Hualien county, earlier in the day. The underground metro service has been temporarily suspended, along with the high-speed rail service between Taipei and the neighbouring city of Taoyuan. According to the Central News Agency, minor power cuts were also reported in some districts of the capital. Schools and some buildings have also been evacuated. Aftershocks and lingering disruptions are possible in the coming hours.
