The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) confirmed at approximately 12:10 (local time) on Thursday, June 13, rocket sirens were heard over Nirim (Eshkol Regional Council), as at least one missile was fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israel. The Iron Dome missile defense system reportedly intercepted the missiles and no damages or casualties were immediately reported. Further Gazan missile launches targeting Israel are possible over the coming hours, as well as Israeli military reprisals on suspected Gazan militant installations.

In general, rocket fire and strikes between Israel and the Gaza Strip have intensified since early December 2017. Hundreds of rockets and mortars have been fired from the Gaza Strip, often followed by retaliatory Israeli airstrikes.
