Suspected Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) militants killed 12 people and wounded 15 others in a rocket attack on regime-controlled Al-Wadihi village (Aleppo province) on Sunday, June 16, per Syrian state media reports.

Similar HTS attacks are to be expected on regime-held areas in northwestern Syria over the near term.

Context

To date, the Syrian conflict involves many parties, including the Syrian government, the Russian government, the Iranian government, the Turkish government, a US-led coalition, and numerous armed groups on the ground (including the Islamic State) with competing goals.
