Philippines: 5.9-magnitude earthquake strikes Bohol Sea July 2

A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck the Bohol Sea, some 50 km (31 mi) west-southwest of Yumbing, early (local time) on Tuesday, July 2. No damages or casualties were immediately reported.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation, prepare for aftershocks, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.

In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g. under a table), move away from windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is an immediate danger. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, and streetlights.
