At least six people were killed, and 16 others wounded, in an explosion at Kabul University on Friday morning (local time), July 19. A suspected vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) or magnetic improvised explosive device (MIED) detonated around 07:30 at the south gate of the university as students were arriving. A second device was reportedly found nearby. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected to persist for the coming hours.
