Cuba: Nationwide celebrations expected for National Rebellion Day July 26

Celebrations are scheduled nationwide to mark the National Rebellion Day on July 26; transportation disruptions expected

The National Rebellion Day, marking the 66th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, will be celebrated nationwide on Friday, July 26. Two key events are organized for the celebration. The central event will be hosted by the Granma province, while a secondary event will be held in Matanzas (Matanzas province).

Other celebrations and events should be expected in major cities such as Havana and Santiago.

Associated localized transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence is expected near all events and celebrations.

Individuals in Cuba, and particularly in Granma and Matanzas, are advised to allow additional travel time, monitor developments to the situation, report all suspicious objects and behavior to the authorities, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
