A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao at approximately 00:10 (local time) on Saturday, August 3. No casualties or major material damages were immediately reported to have resulted from the earthquake which, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), struck around 26 km (16 mi) east-southeast of Lamitan.
Aftershocks are possible in the region over the coming hours and days.

Individuals in affected areas are advised to monitor developments, prepare for aftershocks, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g. under a table), move away from windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is an immediate danger.
