The interior ministry has confirmed that the death toll from the suicide bombing that occurred in the PD06 area of Kabul at 22:40 (local time) on Saturday, August 17, has risen to at least 63 people, while another 182 are wounded. The Taliban has not claimed responsibility for the bomb that targeted the Shahr-e-Dubai wedding hall.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near the scene of the explosion in the coming hours. Similar attacks in the capital are possible in the near term.
