Pride parade to be held in Taipei on October 26; heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions expected

The 2019 Pride parade in Taipei is scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 26, starting at 12:00 (local time), to support equal rights for lesbian, gas, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex people. The parade is due to start at Taipei City Hall Square before heading to Ketagalan Avenue. Organizers estimated that over 137,000 people participated in the 2018 Pride parade.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions including road closures are expected along the parade route. Counterprotests cannot be ruled out.
