Palestinian rocket fired into southern Israel August 21; further rocket fire and retaliatory Israeli airstrikes possible

A rocket was fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday evening (local time), August 21; the projectile reportedly landed in an open area. Rocket sirens sounded in Nahal Oz and Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council. No casualties or damages were immediately reported.

Similar incidents are to be expected over the near term amid heightened tensions along the Israeli-Gazan border.
