Activists plan march in Port Moresby to free West Papua on September 10; heightened security presence and associated disruptions expected

As of 11:30 (local time) on Tuesday, September 10, several hundred activists are gathered at Jack Pidik Park in Port Moresby to march as a part of the Free West Papua campaign. Participants plan to march to Sir John Guise Stadium via Hubert Murray Highway and Waigani Drive. Local media outlets have reported an increased police officer presence in the capital. Organizers have said that road closures are expected along the march route between 09:00 and 13:00 (local time). 

A heightened security presence and localized transport and business disruptions are expected along the march route.
