US: Environmental protests planned in several cities between September 20, 21, 27

Environmental activists call for protests across the country between September 20, 27; heightened security and localized traffic disruptions expected

Environmental activists have called for protests in every US state, between Friday, September 20, and Friday, September 27, to bring attention to climate change.

Protests in major urban centers include:

New York will host the New York City climate strike with activist Greta Thunberg at Foley Square at 12:00 (local time) on September 20. The Red Hook climate strike is scheduled for September 20 at 12:00 (local time) at Coffey Park.

Washington, DC will host two events on September 20, including a march starting at John Marshall Park and proceeding to the Capitol Building as of 11:00, and a strike at Howard University at 12:00.

Atlanta's protest on September 20 will take place at 12:00 at 55 Trinity Av SW.

Chicago will hold four events in September 20, all starting between 09:30 and 12:00.

Los Angeles will hold three events on September 20, at 10:00, 12:00, and 15:00. 

San Francisco will hold an event on September 20 at the San Francisco Federal Building starting at 10:00 (local time) and a march on Wednesday, September 25, starting from the San Francisco Financial District, 1 Post Street.

Dallas will have a march through downtown on Monday, September 23, beginning at Main Street Garden Park at 17:30 (local time).

Further protests have been called for September 27 across the nation.

Rallies associated with the global climate strike movement are likely in other urban centers across the country.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of all protests.
