Bush fires kill two in New South Wales October 10; transportation disruptions to continue over the coming days

As of Thursday, October 10, more than 70 homes and 80,000 hectares (198,000 acres) have been ravaged by ongoing bush fires in New South Wales, killing two people. Authorities stated that 34 fires were still ongoing in the state with nine of them remaining out of control.
In northern New South Wales, transportation disruptions and infrastructure damage have been reported. Several roads remain closed in the affected area. NSW TrainLink service has been suspended between Sydney and Grafton, and replacement buses have been deployed to service the Casino-Brisbane route. The situation is expected to last until at least Monday, October 14.
In addition to the ongoing bushfire situation in New South Wales and Queensland, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (ABM) issued Fire Weather Warnings for parts of the Northern Territoriy and Western Australia.
Further spread of wildfires is possible over the coming hours and days. Localized transportation disruptions are to be expected near the fires.
