Heightened security measures and road traffic disruptions are expected in Tokyo ahead of the imperial enthronement ceremony scheduled to start at 15:30 (local time) on Tuesday, October 22. The official parade will drive from the Imperial Palace (Chiyoda) to the Akasaka Palace (Minato Ward). Traffic disruptions and road blockages are notably expected between Tuesday, October 22, and Wednesday, October 23, on the Metropolitan Expressway and the Central Loop Line. Further localized road blockades are to be expected around the city center between Saturday, October 19, and October 23, as a large number of foreign dignitaries are expected to visit the capital.

Heightened security measures will be implemented at all airports in Tokyo, likely causing significant delays at airports between Saturday, October 19, and Saturday, October 26. ANA airlines also announced on Thursday, September 26, the cancelation of several flights on Monday, October 21, and Thursday, October 24.
