Tunisian President-elect to have swearing-in ceremony in Tunis on October 23; increased security and traffic disruptions expected

Tunisia's newly elected president, Kais Saied, will be sworn in on Wednesday, October 23, at the Assembly of the Representatives of the People. Saied will thus become the seventh president of the Tunisian Republic, succeeding Beji Caid Essebsi, who died while in office on July 25. An official ceremony will be held at the Presidential Palace in Carthage afterwards.
A heightened security presence, along with localized traffic disruptions are expected in the capital on Wednesday. Associated protests are possible.
Context
Kais Saied has won the Tunisian presidential run-off election on Sunday, October 13, defeating Nabil Karoui. Saied won 72.71 percent of the vote. Tunisia's electoral commission said voter turnout reached 39.2 percent, nearly 12 percent higher than the turnout during the first round of elections held on September 15.
