Belarus: Parliamentary elections set for November 17

Parliamentary elections will take place across Belarus on Sunday, November 17. Related political demonstrations and rallies are possible over the coming days, particularly in the capital Minsk. Heightened security measures and traffic disruptions should be anticipated around polling sites and political gatherings. Clashes between supporters of different political parties, as well as associated arrests, cannot be ruled out. The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has requested 400 independent observers for the election.

Context
