Warning

Event

Around 50,000 households in coastal areas of Western Australia state were still without power on Monday, May 25, a day after the region was hit by a strong storm. The weather system, formed from the remnants of Cyclone Mangga, brought heavy rain and winds of up to 132 km/h (82 mph) to coastal areas on Sunday, as well as a tidal surge that caused some coastal flooding. Engineers were still working to restore power on Monday after dozens of powerlines were brought down by falling trees, but major oil and mining companies in the region reported minimal impact on their operations.

Residual travel and service delivery disruption is likely in the near term.
