Police arrested at least 200 people across Nabire regency (Papua province) on Thursday, September 24, during protests against the extension of the Special Autonomy laws for Papua province. Protesters gathered at five points across the city of Nabire, including the Uswim Kalibobo campus, Karang Tumaritis Market, Wonorejo, SMP Negeri 5 Nabire, RSUD Nabire, and the SP 1 West Nabire intersection. The United Liberation Front in West Papua (ULMWP) subsequently organized a march to the Nabire police headquarters to demand the release of those detained.
