Reports of several IDF rounds detonated near Erbil International Airport on September 30; further attacks possible in the near term

Reports indicate that at least four possible indirect fire (IDF) rounds detonated in close proximity of Erbil International Airport (EBL) at approximately 21:01 (local time) on Wednesday, September 30. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the rounds may have detonated in the area of Gazna, located around 4 km (2.5 mi) north of the airport. 

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the incident in the near term, along with localized transport disruptions.
