Activists affiliated with Ontario Civil Liberties Association and the No More Lockdowns movement will hold a demonstration in Ottawa, Ontario, on Dec. 12. The purpose of the action is to protest proposed lockdown restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Demonstrators will gather on Parliament Hill, starting at 1200. Organizers are asking attendees to remain peaceful and bring pots, pans, and other implements to make noise during the event. Several hundred small businesses have pledged their support for the demonstration.
Several hundred demonstrators will likely participate in the demonstration. Similar protests have been occurring weekly in Toronto and other cities in Canada, with hundreds participating in the events. While clashes between demonstrators and police are unlikely, they cannot be ruled out. Heightened security, as well as associated transport and business disruptions, are likely around the protest area.
