Canada: Activists plan vehicular protest march in Toronto Dec. 20 to demand removal of COVID-19 restrictions
Activists to stage vehicular march in Toronto, Canada, to protest COVID-19 restrictions Dec. 20. Localized disruptions likely.
Event
Activists affiliated with The Line Canada movement plan to hold a vehicular protest march in Toronto, Dec. 20. The purpose of the action is to demand that authorities lift restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Participants will assemble in the parking lot of LA fitness at 1380 Don Mills Road starting at 1200 before driving through various parts of the city and neighboring towns. While organizers have not released details of the motorcade's route, the event is slated to end at Scarborough Town Centre at 1500. The Dec. 20 gathering is the latest in a series of weekly protests being sponsored by The Line Canada.
Several hundred people will likely participate in the demonstration. Police will probably deploy to strategic locations along the anticipated march route as a precaution and to facilitate the flow of traffic. Although most events have so far remained largely peaceful, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out. Localized traffic disruptions are likely.
Advice
Allow additional time to reach destinations in the greater Toronto area while the demonstration is taking place Dec. 20. Heed the instructions of local authorities; confirm road status before driving.
