Authorities in Montana, US, lift multiple coronavirus disease-related restrictions as of Jan. 15. Mandatory facemask order remains in place.

Warning

Event

As of Jan. 15, health officials in Montana have issued orders to lift several restrictions put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Under the new directives, no specific limit on public gatherings will be imposed; state authorities urge individuals and businesses to implement social distancing measures during any gathering.

All businesses may open, and no specific capacity limits will be imposed for their operations. They should maintain social distancing measures, as well as enhanced sanitation procedures, and urge employees to work from home whenever possible.

Individuals continue to be required to wear facemasks whenever in indoor spaces open to the public, as well as in any outdoor setting where social distancing is not possible.

Local authorities may impose more restrictive orders within their jurisdictions. Officials could amend the order at short notice, depending on the disease activity in the coming weeks.

Advice

Emphasize basic health precautions, especially frequent handwashing with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable. Practice good coughing/sneezing etiquette (i.e., covering coughs and sneezes with a disposable tissue, maintaining distance from others, and washing hands). There is no evidence that the influenza vaccine, antibiotics, or antiviral medications will prevent this disease, highlighting the importance of diligent basic health precautions.
