Additional protests and clashes remain likely through at least Feb. 20 outside Tataouine Regional Government in Tunisia following violence Feb. 15. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the governor's office and demanded his resignation for allegedly failing to implement an agreement that had been signed between the central government and Tataouine Governorate. Five police officers were injured in clashes that ensued between security forces and protesters.
Police will almost certainly deploy to monitor any demonstrations that will likely materialize in the coming days. Heightened security measures, as well as localized transport and business disruptions, are likely around the governor's office for the duration of the protests. Violence and clashes between police and protesters remain possible, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or attempt to block the city's main roads.
