Brunei: National Day events to occur nationwide Feb. 23

Brunei will celebrate its 37th National Day, a nationwide public holiday, Feb. 23. The largest events will probably occur in Bandar Seri Begawan, with a parade in Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien. Rehearsals will also take place at the site on several days, including Feb. 17. Smaller gatherings will likely occur in other areas nationwide. Events will probably be significantly smaller than in previous years due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) controls. Government office and business closures are likely Feb. 23.

Authorities will almost certainly heighten security nationwide, especially near event locations, as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely at program sites.
