Reports indicate heavy security in the Bicentennaire area of southern Port-au-Prince as of the evening of Feb. 24 following reports of rival gang clashes and shooting. Local accounts also suggest sporadic gunfire in Martissant. Police have reportedly erected roadblocks to restrict access into the neighborhoods. There have been no immediate reports of casualties.
Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely through at least early Feb. 25. Reports indicate significant traffic disruptions near 5th Bolosse Street along the southern entrance into Port-au-Prince.
