Greenland: Authorities in Greenland maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions as of March 16 /update 7
Greenland maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions as of March 16; significant business and travel disruptions continue.
Event
Greenland is maintaining measures introduced to limit the spread of COVID-19 and prevent variant strains from entering the country as of March 16. International arrivals are banned until at least April 18; only international flights pre-approved by the Corona Secretariat will be permitted. All permitted travelers entering Greenland must complete a personal location form prior to entry and have evidence of a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken within the previous 72 hours. All permitted arrivals must also self-isolate for 14 days on arrival, though this can be ended early following a negative COVID-19 test taken no sooner than five days after arriving. The isolation period may only be carried out in one of 12 locations; travelers without adequate accommodation in these areas will be placed in a state-run health center to carry out their isolation period. The restrictions do not apply to freight and cargo transport.
Nonessential businesses are permitted to operate provided they implement strict hygiene and social distancing requirements. Facemasks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces and outdoor public spaces where social distancing of 2 meters (6.5 feet) cannot be maintained.
Any restrictions may be extended or amended with little-to-no advance notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
